One way to stay on track is to create a support system around you. Ultimately, only you can help yourself by taking responsibility. But you don’t have to do it alone. You can seek support from your family, friends , co-workers, doctor and of course your fitness club.
It is important to learn how to build support from the people around you. Here are some tips:
- If you are at a restaurant and they give you a bread basket before your meal is served, you may ask the waiter to remove it. This is one way of seeking support.
- If you usually have a second helping at dinner, because there are so many leftovers, enlist a family member to be in charge of clearing the leftovers so that you are less tempted. If you have no one to help you out you may have to plan your meals so that there are no leftovers.
- If you usually meet your friends for brunch, you could suggest meeting for a walk, or walking to do errands.
